THE FUNERAL of a 22-year-old who died on New Year’s Day will take place tomorrow.

The funeral of Steven Dyson will take place at St Paul’s Church, Bridge Street, Ramsbottom at 1.30pm.

Hundreds of people are expected to pay their respects to the young man on Friday.

His mother, Lorraine Roach, has asked those who went to a New Year’s Eve party with Steven not to attend.

Members of the public who do attend have been asked to leave room at the front for close friends and family.

After the service a private ceremony will be held for those closest to Steven.

Steven, was reported missing after he failed to return home from a New Year’s Eve party.

He was last seen leaving the party at about 9am in St Andrew’s Close, Ramsbottom to begin his walk home to Beechwood Avenue.

Steven did not make it home and failed to show up for work the next day.

After the 22-year-old had been reported missing hundreds of people from Ramsbottom joined the search for Steven.

The search was called off after police found a body in the River Irwell in Summerseat.

Members of the Ramsbottom community staged two memorial walks in Steven’s memory, one in Nuttall Park and another up Holcombe Hill.
