MASTERCHEF finalist and superstar chef Steven Lickley is set to host a a unique cooking and dining event in Ramsbottom.

Mr Lickley, who reached the final of Masterchef: the Professionals 2018, will be appearing at Bang and Olufsen in Square Street at 6pm on March 10.

There he will be giving a live demonstration on how to cook a range of hot and cold canapés, including a pigeon pie with pickled beetroot and crispy potato and treacle cures salmon with buckwheat Bellini, keta caviar and bronze fennel, alongside a dessert.

Each course will be served with a paired wine from The Vineyard in Square Street, including a Negromaro and The Secret Chocolate Wine.

The event will also feature entertainment from Lancashire singer songwriter Tom Scothern, and attendees will be able to get 10 per cent of all Bang and Olufsen products over the course of the evening.

Mr Lickley, who attended Bury College and Woodhey High School as a teenager, said: "I always wanted to come back to Bury and do something in my home town, that's big for me.

"And it's supporting local businesses and a local musician as well. Who doesn't want live music with good wine and good food."

The menu is influenced by several dishes that Mr Lickley served in the Masterchef competition, as well as featuring several new creations that he is yet to try out.

He said: "The menu is based around flavour combinations that I have used in the past, using ingredients that are in season at the moment and are delicious.

"It is going to be good fun to cook them.

"And I think demonstrations are good because you get to interact with the customer while you cook. It's different from being in a restaurant or doing a pop up.

"You get to see the whole process of how the dish is made and you get to experience it, so people have a lot more appreciation for the dish.

"My girlfriend Emma is going to be doing the whole event too and she and I will be serving and I'll be mingling while serving, having a nice wonder around and talking to everybody.

"Emma loves it in Bury. She's not a city girl, she likes the country side so she really loves it."

Mr Lickley decided to do the event at Bang and Olufsen after being contacted on social media by the Manager Sam McCabe, and has since developed a friendship with the staff and owners.

The store and Ms McCabe are hoping the event will be the first in a partnership Mr Lickley, and are planning to host further events with the chef in the future.

Ms McCabe said:"I'm really excited for the demonstration. It's great because Steven's originally from Bury and It's good to see the community come together.

"I think people will really enjoy it."

The Ramsbottom event follows a series of pop up events Mr Lickley has hosted with fellow Masterchef contestants, at the Roux in Parliament Square and the Frog in Shoreditch — and he will also be doing another pop up in Birmingham on March 18.

Tickets for the Ramsbottom event priced £30 are available from the store or by emailing ramsbottom@bang-olufsen.co.uk.
