PRIZE winners from the Ramsbottom Music Festival entertained once again at the weekend.

The Ramsbottom Music Festival Gala Concert was held on Saturday at the Greenmount United Reformed Church.

The audience braved the weather to hear a selection of winners from the 26th annual festival held on Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10.

Mayor of Bury, Cllr Dorothy Gunther, a founding member of the festival in 1993, attended with her consort, Michael Gunther.

A showcase of the best pieces from the various sections the festival was performed for the audience.

Several special award trophies were given out to the most promising entrants in each discipline.

These included, Most Promising Popular Light Vocal Performance, Juba Lawal from Radcliffe, Most Promising Pianist Grades 1 & 2, Daniel Patelmama from Whitefield and Most Promising Woodwind Performance, Caitlyn Hamer from Tottington.

Seven-year-old cellist, Jan Kojder from Sunny Bank, was named as the most promising performer at the gala concert, and was awarded the Peter Fielding Memorial Salver by festival president Barry Sugden.

He said: "The standard of performances was even higher than last year."
