LIBRARY volunteers have been handed a boost after market traders stepped in to replace plants that were ‘stolen’ from their grounds.
A number of plants went missing from The Tottington Centre and Community Library two weeks ago, with volunteers believing a man and a woman in their 30s to be responsible.
Stall owners at Bury Market have now kindly stepped in to donate a selection of plants to the centre, which reopened in March.
The plants were delivered to the centre, in Market Street, Tottington, by Michael Yaffe of Gerald’s Ladies Outerwear and Sallie Fallows from The Snapdragon plant and flower stall.
Tottington councillor Yvonne Wright, who is a member of the Friends of Tottington Library, said she was delighted.
She said: “We are thrilled and very grateful with the generosity of Michael and Sallie.
“Our gardening team are busy redesigning the beds and planting the lovely donated plants.”
