COMING soon . . . to a town centre near you.

The new Vue cinema is ready to reel in a big new audience when it opens in three weeks’ time. Its large letters already boom out across Angouleme Way as part of the £350M Rock development, and the 10-screen interior is starting to take shape.

A special advance showing of Toy Story 3 will herald a new era for Bury moviegoers on the evening of Thursday July 15 — simultaneously, the doors of the Vue complex in Pilsworth will shut.

Vue in Pilsworth, which was opened as a Warner Bros complex in 1989, has seen more than 15 million filmgoers pass through its doors.

Now bosses are hoping the new Vue will prove an even greater attraction, housing more than 1,700 seats, and sited almost opposite the site of the town centre’s last picture house, The Roxy.

It will also bring the latest in cinema technology to Bury, currently only used at Westfield in London, which opened in February.

Mr Tim Richards, chief executive officer of Vue Entertainment said: “We are incredibly excited about the opening of the 10 screen cinema at The Rock, as we know there there is a huge cinema following among the people of Bury.

“The cinema will include a super-sized VueXtreme screen, comfortable VIP seats and incredible 3D film presentation.

“Alternative content such as classical performances, live music and sporting events will also feature.”
