A SALESWOMAN left out of work by the credit crunch has landed her dream job as a personal shopper at The Rock.

Single mum Dawn Jackson had been jobless since October when her company folded.

But, thanks to the £350 Rock leisure and shopping complex, she is back in work.

When Debenhams opens on July 16, Miss Jackson will get shoppers to relax in luxury, getting them comfy on a sofa with a glass of wine, while she goes in search of just what the customer wants.

Miss Jackson, aged 32, of Glenboro Avenue, Elton, said: “I am delighted to be one of those benefiting from this development. It is a dream come true. It is great to see local people can get jobs from this.”

After leaving Woodhey High School, she worked in several customer service-based roles.

She had time off to raise her son, Kyle, who is now aged eight. and then got a job selling advertising for a construction magazine.

“The credit crunch hit publishing hard and I left the magazine just before it folded,” said Miss Jackson. “I looked for a job on my own for a while but nothing came up.

“It was good in that I was assigned a lone-parent advisor at the Job Centre, but it took a while to find something.

“Christmas was difficult, especially with Kyle. Everything changed in March when I found out about the Rock opportunities.”

Miss Jackson enrolled on a training programme with an agency called Work Solutions and was eventually awarded the job.

She said: “Kyle really wants to go on holiday and it is wonderful to be able to afford it again.

“I have worked really hard for this opportunity and can’t wait to get started.”

Debenhams store manager, Mr Philip Elliott, said: “Dawn is a fantastic example of what can happen when people work together.

“Dawn has taken one of the most important roles in our store.

“She should be very proud to have secured one of our expert roles.”
