POLICE are scouring speed cameras along the M40 in a bid to look for clues on the Ealing bombers.
A report in The Sunday Telegraph claimed that the M40 cameras are a crucial link in the hunt for the bombers.
The report goes on to say that Special Branch officers have evidence that the Real IRA terrorists who carried out the attack are based in Oxford, and used the M40 Birmingham to London motorway to get to the target in Ealing Broadway, West London.
The claims have been denied by Thames Valley Police, who say they are examining the footage as a matter of routine.
A spokesman for the force said: "As far as we are concerned this is pure speculation by The Sunday Telegraph.
"We are, however, as a matter of routine, checking our speed camera films and CCTV footage of the M40 in a bid to assist officers dealing with the Ealing bomb case."
The 88lb fertiliser-based bomb injured 11 people in the early hours of Friday and has provoked increased security measures at potential targets across the country.
