A MOTORCYCLIST was taken to hospital after a crash with a taxi driver.
It is believed the taxi driver pulled out of a petrol station in Bury New Road in Whitefield and was hit by the motorcylist at about 11pm last night.
Whitefield fire service attended the scene and said they heard the bang from the station.
Crew manager Mark Anderson said: "At about 11pm last night we were doing our station training and we just heard this almighty bang and we rushed out to see a motorcyclist had smashed in to a taxi.
"We heard the motorbike go past a couple of times before the crash happened and it sounded as though he was travelling too fast.
"Thankfully it was just more of a clean up operation than anything serious.
"His motorbike was completley destroyed and after we calmed him down it appeared he had injured his arm but the taxi driver was uninjured.
"He was very lucky - it could have been much worse."
Police and ambulance helped the fire crew on the scene and the motorcyclist was taken to hopsital with a suspected fractured arm.
Bury New Road was temporarily closed but re-opened a short time after.
