RESIDENTS have been warned to stay vigilant – after reports of bogus roofers operating in the Hollins area.
Whitefield and Unsworth Home Watch Association issued a warning after bogus roofers targeted a number of homes in the area.
As well as the bogus roofers, youths were also seen attempting to open car doors in Hollins Village last week, according to a spokesman for the group.
The Home Watch spokesman urged householders to ignore cold callers and to deal with registered tradesmen only.
He said: “Bogus roofers have been targeting homes in the Hollins area.
“Do not deal with cold callers.
“Bury Trading Standards has a list of trustworthy trades people.
“Youths have been seen trying car doors in Hollins Village over the last couple of days.
“Make sure your vehicle is locked by checking the doors.
“Do not rely solely on your remote and do not leave any items on display.”
Anyone with any information which could help Greater Manchester Police is asked to call them on 101.
