LABOUR voters were out in force for this year’s General Election as Ivan Lewis received a staggering 7,657 more votes than in 2015.
The MP for Bury South won the 2015 election with 19,508 votes and saw support grow this year by receiving 27,165 votes.
Standing for the Conservatives in 2015, David Critchlow received 16,350 votes while Robert Largan picked up 21,200 this time.
UKIP’s Seamus Martin came third in 2015 with 6,299 votes, beating the Lib Dems into fourth place, followed by Green candidate Glyn Heath and Valerie Morris, while English Democrats came last.
Ian Henderson stood for UKIP this year and received 1,316 votes — considerably fewer than 2015.
He was followed by Liberal Democrat Andrew Page with 1,065 votes and Independent Peter Wright with 244 ballots.
