ALTHOUGH I do not live in the Pilkington Park ward of Whitefield, I was shocked to learn that the hard-working Cllr John Mallon had not been re-elected at the recent local elections.
John had worked tirelessly for that area and other parts of Whitefield for at least the past five tears to my knowledge.
He has been working to improve parking facilities at the McDonald’s / Aldi site at Besses by arranging meetings with the various land owners.
He has organised several multi-faith events to encourage a better understanding by residents of all faiths.
He has even joined forces with his Conservative counterpart Oliver Kersch to work on communal projects such as litter-picking in the area.
It appears to me that John’s good work has not been appreciated, but I am sure he will continue with his good work in a voluntary capacity and will be re-elected as a councillor in the future.
John deserves thanks and recognition for the work he has done to improve his locality.
What did he do wrong to lose the confidence of his electorate?
