I WRITE regarding a leaflet I got through from a political party who suggest schools will see a £6.6 million cut by 2020.

Local MP James Frith wrote to the Bury Times in February and praised GCSE results, but also stated schools would see a real-terms cut of £3.8 million by 2020.

How can this figure have changed so significantly in a couple of months?

Road spending is another concern. For the past 12 months the same party states a £10 million investment is being made, but actually when you ask the question, you find just 500,000 was spent this year and 750,000 is planned for next year. Strange, given how poor our roads are.

Prior to the local elections in May, it would be nice to have some accurate and correct figures from local election candidates who are meant to represent us and not become engrained in Westminster-style politics.
