Bury Church High School teachers are getting ready for the Manchester to Blackpool charity cycle ride.
They are embarking on the 60 mile ride on Sunday in aid of the Christie Hospital and the Leigh Carlisle Foundation.
Teacher and team organiser Sarah Lockey said: “Both causes are close to our hearts.
“The Leigh Carlisle Foundation was set up recently following the death of a member of staff’s daughter and a member of staff has also recently received treatment for cancer with the Christie.”
“The event has crept upon us all very quickly and, who knows, we’ll soon see if we’ve done enough training!
“Some of us even did a training session at the Manchester Velodrome, which was fantastic fun.
“In addition to the generous sponsorship of our family and friends, we have been raising money by organising several activities at school.
“These have included a bowling evening, discos, a non-uniform day and a fairtrade sale. We hope to raise £1,000 in sponsorship. We are very nearly there and, with a final push, we hope to smash our target.”
