YOUNG "boffins" at a Bury school found the right formula for a fascinating insight into the world of chemistry.
Springside Primary pupils spent a day experiencing a wide range of science-meets-art type experiments when students from Loughborough University turned the hall into a laboratory. It was all part of a Creating a Colourful Life Project which was funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) under the Public Engagement Awards. The scheme is co-ordinated by Dr Sandra Dann from Loughborough University.
Headteacher Karen Murphy said: "The team from Loughborough came in and transformed the school hall into a fantastic chemistry lab. The session was really hands on' and the children really enjoyed this. It is the best way to learn and to turn children on to science."
