FOOTBALL enthusiasts at Tottington High School are sporting new gear after an award from a leading sports charity.

The new Nike kit, worth £400, was awarded by the Football Foundation as part of a junior kit scheme, which provides new strips and equipment to teams across the country.

Senior team players have received the new kit, including both the boys, who play for Bury Town Team boys, and the girls from the Manchester City Ladies Team.

Arsenal and England star Theo Walcott is an ambassador for the foundation.

He said: “I know how important it is for young players to feel they are wearing the best kit when running out on the pitch.

“The JKS is a great opportunity to get free kits from the Foundation, which I wear in the Premier League.”

The kit will be used during a Year nine and 10 five-day school trip to Holland in April.

Head of boys PE, Rob Faulkner, said: “The kits will be proudly worn when the boys take on the Feyenoord Football Club in Rotterdam.”
