Anane can go far, says Knill

RICKY Anane has been given a glowing reference by manager Alan Knill after being awarded his first professional contract.

The young full-back, who made his debut from the bench in this season's JP Trophy victory over Rochdale, has been tipped for a bright future after signing a one-year deal a fortnight ago.

"He could be a top player," Knill said. "He has got pace, he is good on the ball and has an unbelievable work ethic.

"He doesn't think he has made it, which can sometimes be a problem with the younger players. He is happy to listen, and if he keeps on doing that, he will be a good player."

Youth team scholars Mike Smith, Ashley Young, Ryan Hall and Luke Holmes were also released by the Gigg Lane club.
