Fans turn on manager after dire defeat

Bury 0 Dagenham and Redbridge 2

DISMAL Bury fell to their sixth straight league defeat with chants of "Casper out" ringing around a disaffected Gigg Lane.

Two goals from Ben Strevens, both direct from defensive errors, prompted a sparse home crowd to turn on their manager, Chris Casper, after the final whistle.

Dagenham scored their first on 18 minutes, as Ben Saunders was given far too much space to cross for an unmarked Strevens to head home from six yards.

Andy Bishop should have equalised just before the break when he was put clear through on goal by Richie Baker, but he lifted a shot over keeper Tony Roberts only for it to drift wide of the post.

Shakers keeper Jim Provett then gifted the visitors a second when he was deceived by a Saunders cross, palming it into the path of Strevens who made no mistake from close range.

Nicky Adams hit the post with a low shot late on, but it would have been more than the Shakers deserved to get back in the match.
