FALKIRK have snapped up former Bury youth team player Ashley Young.

The 17-year-old defender impressed during a trial with the Scottish Premier League club and has now been drafted into the Bairns Academy.

Young was picked up after being released by Burnley’s centre of excellence at the start of last season.

He appeared on the bench in Bury’s win against Rochdale in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

“He is one I am delighted to get in,” said Falkirk coach Eddie May.

“He is tidy on the ball and reads the game well and has also shown in training that he can break forward.

“I have been impressed with the maturity he has shown and think he could have a bright future here.”
