TWO Bury ABC are through to the national quarter-finals in their weight categories after becoming Greater Manchester champions at Gorton.
ABC boss Mick Jelley battled through thick snow at the weekend to get his team of youngsters to Cedar Mount High School, where the county stage of the competition was taking place.
Twelve-year-old Kaleem Hill won on a decision at 40-42 kilos, beating J Waterworth of Leigh ABC.
His success was followed up by 13-year-old Ibrahim Nadim, boxing at 32 to 34k when he beat C Burton of Middleton Select ABC on another split decision.
Eleven-year-old Mahammed Nadim, meanwhile lost his clash with L Hanson, of Olivers ABC.
Hill and Ibrahim Nadim now go forward to the quarter-finals in Yorkshire as they bid for the ultimate prize – a place in the national finals in Liverpool.
