BURY’S first team swept aside Prescot on Saturday with a club-record victory, maintaining their lead at the top of Division Five North.
Man-of-the-match Luke Fidler led the way with eight goals, including a hat-trick in the opening eight minutes, setting another club record for most individual goals in a match.
A further hat-trick from midfielder Simon Major, a brace from James Oakes, and Ben Cooper’s first goal of the season, were just reward for Bury’s constant attacking pressure.
The pick of the goals were a trademark Luke Fidler reverse stick shot, the excellent build-up play for Cooper’s goal, and James Oakes’s fine solo effort.
Bury’s seconds fell to their first defeat of the season in a shock 3-2 turnaround away to the Lymm third team on Saturday.
Two Andy Robertson short corner strikes had given Bury a 2-1 lead, but they could not hold on as Lymm took all three points.
The result, still leaves the second team six points clear at the top of Division Eight North.
