Unsworth gearing up for new season

CENTRAL Lancashire League side Unsworth have begun preparation for the forthcoming cricket season by starting winter nets sessions.
The club begin the new campaign on April 14 with the league now split into two divisions of eight teams – the Premier Division and the Championship Division which will feature Unsworth. This means all sides will playy each other four times in a total of 28 games. The first local derby of the season will be when Radcliffe visit Pole Lane on May 11.
Nets sessions are taking place on Tuesday evenings at Total Cricket in Ashton-under-Lyne, starting at 9pm and are being attended by Unsworth’s new professional Cumberland Minor Counties player Chris Williams, aged 22.
Overseas amateur, Ryan Hawke, is due to arrive from his native South Africa in early April. Meanwhile, the club is welcoming new players of all standards. Anyone interested should email enquiry@unsworthcc.co.uk.
