Bury 3 Garstang 25

BURY’S bid to restore some pride after the previous week’s mauling at the hands of Tarleton came off the rails as they conceded three first-half tries before centre George Kelly broke his right ankle in a seemingly innocuous tackle.

The match was held up for 20 minutes as paramedics tended to Kelly before taking him to hospital. The visitors scored another unconverted try before Bury started to play a more cohesive game, but they could not convert their possession and territory into points.

With the Radcliffe Road men committed to attack, the Garstang winger covered 75 metres to score another unconverted try. Bury visit De Le Salle of Salford on Saturday, kick off 2.15pm.
