BASKETBALL: Derby boys are county champions

DERBY High School have added the Greater Manchester County Cup to their Lancashire Cup trophy.

The local boys triumphed despite being a player down, coming through their pool in second place after winning three out of four games, losing only to Urmston who they met again in the final.

In a thrilling final they avenged their earlier defeat by winning 18-14.

Meanwhile, the school is eagerly awaiting completion of its sports hall. It is hoped it will be ready for the autumn term when Derby High will continue their quest to become a centre of excellence for basketball, netball and football.
