FULL-TIME: Notts County 4-1 Bury

BURY slumped to a third successive League One defeat after a second-half thumping at managerless Notts County tonight.

It had looked promising early on for the Shakers when skipper Steven Schumacher arrowed into the top corner from distance after a sloppy pass by Magpies defender Julian Kelly on 24 minutes.

And they were comfortable with the lead at half-time, but defender Stephane Zubar was forced off with an injury at the break and Bury’s world fell apart inside seven second-half minutes.

First, on 58 minutes, Kelly latched on to a pass from Manchester United loan striker John Cofie to level it up and then, three minutes later, half-time substitute Francois Zoko made it 2-1 to the home side with a simple side-footer.

Zoko grabbed his second when he prodded underneath Trevor Carson to slot into an empty net on 65 minutes.

And the misery was complete for Kevin Blackwell’s men on 74 minutes when Joe Skarz brought down Alan Judge in the box and Jamal Campbell-Ryce rifled home the spot-kick.

With the club revealing it had again been placed under a Football League transfer embargo prior to the game, it rounded off a miserable day for the men from Gigg Lane who remain six points from safety with 13 games to go.
