Team news

As feared, the knee injury Stephane Zubar picked up at Notts County has kept the big central defender out of tonight's trip to Swindon.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell drops back into defence, replaced by Mark Carrington in midfield.

Carl Regan, who struggled in Bury's last three defeats, has been replaced by David Worrall at right-back.

Tom Soares and Nicky Ajose will fill in on the flanks, while Craig Fagan has been handed his first start in a Bury shirt as the lone frontman.

Andy Bishop has dropped out of the squad all together, while Peterborough teenager Jonson Clarke-Harris is on the bench for the first time.

7:09pm

Full line-ups

SWINDON: Foderingham; McCormack, Flint, Ward, McEveley; Roberts, Navarro, Miller, De Vita; Williams, Collins.

Subs: Bedwell, L Rooney, N Thompson, L Thompson, A Rooney, Oakley.

BURY: Carson; Worrall, Eastham, Ebanks-Landell, Skarz; Carrington, Z Thompson; Soares, Schumacher, Ajose; Fagan.

Subs: Belford, Jones, Regan, Healy, Clarke-Harris.

7:03pm

Good evening from the County Ground, where Bury will be looking to bounce back from Friday's night's 4-1 defeat to Notts County.

We are still waiting for team news, with manager Kevin Blackwell paying close attention to the knee injury that centre-back Stephane Zubar picked up in Nottingham.

There's no doubt that the big Bournemouth defender was sorely missed in the second half which saw young centre-back pairing Ashley Eastham and Ethan Ebanks-Landell ship four goals.

With Eastham and Ebanks-Landell partnered in central defence it could be a cricket score.

Glad to eat my words, probably our best win since the day we clinched promotion at Chesterfield.Sadly with most of our rivals also winning it looks like we're going to have to harvest an absolute mountain of points in March to stand any chance of escaping.

I really don't know how they do it. The Pools wreckers strike again.lol

Great win and a few more like it are needed, we're still up against it though. Here's hoping for a good run-in.

Great result tonight lads.I have to say i feared for the Shaker's tonight. Why wasn't bish in the squad?.I noticed Nicky Adams scored tonight for CREEPY CRAWLEY.We had better keep an eye on him he's coming for us.Shifty won't last long at CTFC.They have very ambitious owners and won't be impressed with mere consolidation. He's slipped up 3 times against Brentford this season "how embarrassing".
Schumacher tonight has risen above the parapet and shown his class like i know he can.Mark Carrington deserves a run in the team he's a class act. When Zubar is fit move either Ebank-landell out or bring back Worrall or Jones.I bet The Swindon Players are now resigned to the fact that Paulo aint coming back hee hee, pizza'a all around.

Great result but alas the damage has probably already been done and it will be second division football next season should the club survive the summer.

Well, well....now there is a turn up for the book. I am more than happy to feel humble today.
Now "shifty" comes to Gigg with his Crawling slugs. Let's do to him what we did to Doncaster. Hey, Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel and it is not a train.
Well Done KB and the lads...let's give credit where it is due. This is a MASSIVE result.

Ech up follow posters....what do you think the minimum amount to stay up will be required?

I take it you are joking easy life,Oldham who are fifth bottom currently have 36 points from 33 games .I would think an absolute minimum of 50 points would be required to stay up,maybe 51,which means an unlikely 7 wins from 12 games would be needed.

So you think nomore that EVERY one around is going to win games and Oldham, who are now NOT on the FA CUP train, will gobble up points? Then you have Scunny...have a look at who our fellow strugglers are playing Saturday.
You might be right, could be a waste of complete time hoping.

Given the fact that all of the bottom teams are now taking points of the top and middle teams i think 52 points is a bare minimum to stay up.I know it's a poor league but that has been half of the problem. The big guns would have taken points off diddy teams like Yeovil,Walsall,Scunt
horpe etc.7 wins from 12 is our only hope. But i guess win 6, draw 4 would probably do.IF THE LADS AREN'T CONFIDENT IN THEIR OWN ABILITIES AFTER WINNING AGAINST SWINDON THEN THER'S NO HOPE FOR US.

Good win for the lads. Dont agree with some of the comments made about the players that Blackwell has brought in are worse then the ones we had before. I disagree, Sodje has been a good player for Bury but I think Blackwells idea was for Bury to head up the league, not impossable Yeovil and Walsall have done well, and here I think is the reason for Blackwell geting rid of players like Sodje. and Hughes they are really only league 2 players. If these players where so good why are they all playing i n the lower leagues? The players Blackwell brought in have played in the championship. TRue some are to get their careers back, Here again Blackwell has used his head, geting players in cheap

Was Peter Sweeney only a league 2 player? He was arguably one of the best creative midfielders in league one last season but Blackwell forced him out.Only Soares and Fagan out of all the players brought in can be said to have had league one experience.Do you think that Thompson is a better midfielder than Sweeney?Of all the loan players brought in by Blackwell only Doherty,Poleon and to some extent Zubar have been up to scratch. Some of the signings have defied belief, there are better players than the hapless Wylde in the Bury Sunday league.Replacing loyal servants like Sodje with better players is an admirable ambition, unfortunately Lockwood is useless and Eastham and Ebanks-Landell are both very raw and accident prone despite Tuesday's fine perfrmance.
