4:36pm

76 - David Wright improvises to hook a Jonson Clarke-Harris header behind for a corner.

77 - Colchester again clear from under their bar after another vicious Joe Skarz corner.

4:34pm

76 - SUB - Marcus Bean replaces Billy Clifford

4:31pm

72 - SUB - Jonson Clarke-Harris replaces Craig Fagan.

4:30pm

69 - Ajose looked to have squeezed the ball over the line at the back post following an inswinging Joe Skarz corner, but the referee waves away Bury's claim for a goal.

4:28pm

70 - SUB - Tosin Olufemi on for Clinton Morrison

4:26pm

67 - Trevor Carson stands tall to chest away a Gavin Massey shot after the Colchester midfielder rode a couple of challenges to break clear of the Bury defence.

4:21pm

63 - YELLOW - Ethan Ebanks-Landell is booked for a professional foul on Michael Smith

4:21pm

62 - Andy Bishop has the ball in the net but it is rulled out for offside. The Bury striker pounced after Craig Jones' close-range shot was blocked by keeper Sam Walker.

52 - Michael Smith reminds Bury of the threat Colchester pose on the break after collecting a long clearance before curling a deflected shot narrowly wide.

4:09pm

50 - Bury are giving it a real go as Worrall becomes the latest to miss a decent chance, side-footing over the bar after gambling to get on the end of a dinked Ajose cross at the far post.

4:07pm

48 - Ajose jumps in frustrtation after his low angled drive is turned into the keeper's hands by Bishop as it looked to be heading into the far corner.

4:06pm

4:02pm

3:48pm

Bury 1 Colchester United 2

3:48pm

45+2 - Walker dives to his right to palm away a close-range Andy Bishop toe poke. Moments earlier, David Worrall missed an ideal opportunity to fire at goal, instead choosing to cross and making a hash of it.

3:46pm

45+1 - Schumacher fires a 30-yard shot wide.

3:41pm

41 - David Worrall fires a right-footed 25 yard shot high and wide after cutting in from the left.

3:30pm

29 - GOAL - Bury 1 COLCHESTER UNITED 1 - Josh Thompson rises highest to head home a Colchester corner.

3:26pm

26 - GOAL - BURY 1 Colchester United 0 - Craig Fagan makes ammends for his earlier miss, blasting a low shot past Colchester keeper Sam Walker and into the bottom right corner. The goal followed a sweeping move started by David Worral on the left, who passed inside to Schumacher and the captain's miscued shot landed at the feet of Fagan.

3:24pm

24 - Fagan curls a speculative effort over from just outside the box.

3:23pm

22 - Craig Fagan misses a sitter for Bury, snatching at a shot on the box after breaking the offside trap. He had time and space to pick his spot but blazes over. An almost carbon copy of his glaring miss at Portsmouth last week.

3:21pm

21 - Gavin Massey wastes a good chance, missing the target from just inside the Bury box after a shambolic mix-up in the Bury defence.

3:15pm

Colchester have resisted making any subs and haven't changed their shape dramatically - keeping their two strikers and tucking their remainding three midfielders in a bit, allowing their full-backs to provide the width.

3:10pm

10 - A Craig Jones shot from 12 yards is deflected wide after the Bury winger directed an Andy Bishop pull-back on target. The midfielder then heads the resulting corner narrowly wide.

3:09pm

8 - Colchester goalkeeper Sam Walker spills a Steven Schumacher free-kick, but gathers the rebound under pressure from Andy Bishop.

3:04pm

3 - OFF - Referee Robert Madley has just shocked the crowd after brandishing a straight red card to Colchester United winger George Porter for what must have been dissent. The midfielder had just been hauled to the floor by Bury's Mark Carrington as he bid to launch a breakaway following a Bury corner. He didn't do anyting so must have sworn at the referee as he got up.

Bury get the game underway...

2:45pm

I'm guessing by the large swathes of empty seats at Gigg Lane today that there will be quite a few Bury fans checking on the scores on the website today.

Don't worry, you won't miss a beat, with live action updates throughout the afternoon.

Fingers crossed I will be able to bring you some good news!

2:40pm

Team news

After failing to score in four of their last six matches, finding the net twice and picking up just three points in that time, Bury boss Kevin Blackwell has decided to throw caution to the wind and play with two strikers from the start.

Craig Fagan has been joined by Andy Bishop in attack, while on-loan Leeds midfielder Zac Thompson has dropped to the bench after starting in 24 consecutive matches.

Captain Steven Schumacher - top scorer with 10 goals in all competitions - drops back into a more traditional central midfield role.

The side is otherwise unchanged from the 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth last time out, meaning Craig Jones keeps his position on the right of midfield, with David Worrall playing on the other flank.

Blackwell again goes into the match with no defensive cover on the bench, although Cameroon midfielder Valery Mezague, who is yet to make his first appearance for Bury since joining on non-contract terms on transfer deadline day, can drop back if needed.

2:32pm

Full line-ups

BURY: Carson; Regan, Eastham, Ebanks-Landell, Skarz; C Jones, Carrington, Schumacher, Worrall; Fagan, Bishop.

Subs: Ajose, Healy, Clarke-Harris, Belford, Z Thompson, Mezague.

COLCHESTER UNITED: Walker; Wright, Okuonghae, J Thompson, Garmston; Porter, Bond, Clifford, Massey; Smith, Morrison.

Subs: Duguid, Izzet, Bean, Ladapo, Olufemi, Phillips, Wright.

Referee: Robert Madley.

2:06pm

Welcome to readers live from Gigg Lane where Bury take on relegation rivals Colchester United in what has to be a must-win game.

While Bury dropped to the bottom of League One after a 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth last week, they know that a win over Colchester today, followed by victories in the two games they have in had over the Kent strugglers, would take them to within a point of Joe Dunne's side.

It would have to take a dramatic turnaround in form in the final 10 games of the season though, with the Shakers losing five of their last six matches, but funnier things have happened in football.

Kevin Blackwell's side at least go into today's game without any new injuries or suspensions, meaning the Bury boss will have 19 players to choose from.

While Colchester have been it by a virus that could seriously weaken their options here at Gigg Lane.

Full team news will follow shortly.

Unlucky not to win especially as we played against 10 men for over 85 minutes.
However, Blackwell did himself no favours taking off one of our few players who showed they were interested (jones) and brought on Mr Healy who on at least 2 occasions looked as though he ran away from the ball and not towards it?
A good game but titter ye not, as it is now looking increasingly desperate at the very bottom of the table....

The next step is quite simple really. On Monday morning the chairman should ask Blackwell whether he is planning to recall Sodje from his loan spell. If the answer is no,which it will be as Blackwell is an idiot, he should suspend Blackwell on gardening leave, recall Sodje, place Futcher and Sodje in charge of the team until the end of the season, get Sodje back in the team to provide some leadership at the back and then get some legal advice to find out just how many times Blackwell has breached his contract in the last few months.Relegation has been inevitable for some time now,but Blackwell has poisoned the club to such an extent that if he's not removed we could be looking at back to back demotions twelve months from now.

Once again I read nomoresurfin`s comments and he`s put my own thoughts into words.
Mind you, yesterday I was told that the reason Hughes and Sodje were sent out on loan was becuase they got so upset with Blackwell`s comments that they both refused to play for him! No idea how true that is - we are told nothing - but it does tie in with nomoresurfn`s comment that Blackwell has poisoned the club.
On a practical note, I wonder how many people will renew their season tickets if Blackwell stays. Can the club afford to keep him? Will the PFA extend the loan so that we can pay him off???

I think Kevin Blackwell should join up with Gary Neville & Phil Brown in a media role.He spends too much time spouting about his shortcomings at our club.

In truth he's never been any use as a manager in this kind of no hope situation.

The difference at Bury fc is that he's ripped the life out of our club with poor decision making and acquiring sub standard players.

There is absolutely no team spirit or belief in that dressing room.

Watching Bury fc is like witnessing a dying animal suffering a slow agonising demise which is unbearable.

If the club had the finances i'm pretty sure KB would have been sacked by now.

All that is happening is that KB is waving his finger in the air saying "YOU CAN'T SACK ME AND EVEN IF YOU HAD THE BOTTLE TO DO SO MISTER USELESS CHAIRMAN YOU AIN'T GOT THE FINANCES TO DO SO,WHO ARE YOU GOING GET TO SAVE YOU NOW?,THE DAMAGE IS ALREADY DONE HA HA HA.

Your credibility is zilch MISTER FENTON.

We couldn't even beat a side playing with 10 men for 80 minutes or so after we took the lead(absolutely pathetic).

I just hope to God that there is a massive clear out in the summer.

Why does the useless TREVOR (NOT SO CLEVER CARSON) get picked game after game.

I mean he's playing with a fractured finger for Pete's sake.Get Cameron Belford in,he's been picking up a wage for nothing for the whole season.

Bring in CHRIS BRASS & SODGE until the end of the season and get shut of the 2ND HAND CAR SALES MAN & THE SPOTTY CRATER FACED FLY CATCHER.

Yet again "CRAIG NELSON" claims that COLCHESTER UNITED are a KENT CLUB.He obviously needs a new vocation in a brand new location on vacation.Time for a geography lesson Craigy.

'Futcher for manager'.... I think not!

Confidence is low though. You only have to look at David Worrall for example, who, when right in front of goal would currently rather pass the ball than shoot. Mind you, playing at right back won't do his confidence any good but it might make it an easier decision for him to leave the club, if another offer comes in.
And why on earth did we take Craig Jones off and not a defender when losing at home and needing to win?

If and when we need a new manager, I think it needs to be someone who has some affection/affiliatio
n for this club, not someone connected to the city of Sheffield...unless of course Danny Wilson doesn't quite do the job over there; then he could come home!
And we don't need someone with a bright orange face either!
Titter ye not! These are hard times. It's like watching Barnstoneworth United before they brought the good players back!

First job monday morning should be to sack Blackwell and all his coaching staff. With regards to paying up contracts if the club has no money then they will have to wait until such a time as the club is in a position to come to a settlement with them. In truth if they were judged on performance it would be them owing the club and not the other way around.

Eileen,
"We couldn't even beat a side playing with 10 men for 80 minutes or so after we took the lead(absolutely pathetic)".

Did you actually go to the game?????

If you did, you CANNOT call that performance "pathetic". We absolutely battered them for the whole game (2 minute spell when they scored 2 goals apart). To be honest i can't remember seeing us play aswell as that for the whole 90mins for many a year.

But for some inspired goalkeeping, great defending, bad luck and wasteful finishing, we'd have got double figures.....just wish we'd have shown this desire and committment throughout the season and we'd have been fine by now.

Lisa,
Worrall never played right back on Satdi, he played right wing in the 1st half, then on the right side of a 5 man midfield when we went 3 at the back in the 2nd half......dropping back when needed, which wasn't very often.

Why do you lot keep going on about Blackwell being shown the door......IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN. Like it or lump it, he'll be here til the end of the season (unless he goes himself).
You sound like certain "fans" at the game on Satdi doing nothing but moan, moan, moan all the way through the game.....really wish these people wouldn't bother coming or atleast stfu, the players especially don't need you having a go at them constantly. People were having a go at Worrall, Bishop and Schumacher near me, what on earth do these people want? Either back the team or stay at home....or voice your opinions after the game, is it any wonder our players lack confidence with the vile verbal abuse they have to endure week after week.

People need to take a reality check at times, we will forever be a yo-yo team......we always have been. We are never going to be a regular league 1 team with the crowds and finances we get and we have to accept that, the sooner a few of you realise that the better. We have to enjoy the good times, as they are few and far between, but stick together in the bad times. Getting relegated could well be a blessing in disguise, i for one would rather be a good League 2 side than a poor League 1 side.....who knows, that may well be the case next season, with or without Blackwell.

shaken, football is about defending as well as attacking, for all the chances that we created, the vast majority from Craig Jones crosses, the three stooges Blackwell has recruited at the back conspired to give two soft goals away due to their ineptitude.I happen to think that, had we equalised at any stage those jokers would have found a way to give away another one.If Blackwell stays we will be at the bottom of league two this time next year the man is a poisonous, clueless excuse of a manager and i for one will not be renewing my season ticket until he leaves.

Admittedly the 1st goal should have been avoided, either Carson should have come and claimed (as he should have done) or Ebanks Landell should have gone with the fella who scored. Neither one took responsibility and a goal ensued, poor poor defernding.
The 2nd goal was due to our midfielders not picking up the runner (Schmacher/Carringto
n), the defender got the tackle in but it just ran perfectly for Morrison to place it in the corner.
I admit out defence isn't the best (probably the worst infact) but please don't tell me Sodje is a good un and would have sorted things out.
