FULL TIME: Bury 4 Cheltenham Town 1
BURY came from behind to post their second league victory of the season following a goal-laden encounter at home to Cheltenham Town.
The visitors took the lead after three minutes when Andy Procter inexplicably turned a Terry Gornell shot into his own net from close range.
But the Shakers came storming back with four of their own – taking their tally to 16 goals in their last six games in league and cup.
Danny Mayor equalised with a 25-yard effort on nine minutes, despite protest from away fans after defender Craig Braham-Barrett was injured in the build-up.
Bury then went ahead two minutes later when Procter made amends for his earlier howler by powering home a back-post header from a Craig Jones corner.
And centre-back Nathan Cameron showed real skill to extend the home side’s advantage on 17 minutes, deftly turning home a low Jones cross at the near post.
Bury went off the boil a little in the second half, with the biggest cheer reserved for the introduction of Jessy Reindorf, who was given a standing ovation following Tuesday night’s wonder goal at Norwich.
And the emerging cult hero did not let the fans down, heading Mayor’s floated ball back across goal and into the top corner with 15 minutes remaining.
The well-deserved three points moved Bury into the top half of the table for the first time this season, leaving them just two points outside the play-off places.
