IN the A section of the Bury Snooker League, Fishpool were the visitors to Central C and it was the away side who got off to a flyer – taking the first four frames. A spirited comeback from Central C saw them take the last two, but it wasn’t enough as Fishpool took the match 7-2 and top the A section.

Last years’ winners Tottington D are among the chasing pack after beating fellow early pace setters Bury Snooker B 6-2 with Tottington’s John Hancock producing the biggest win (57-22). Central A’s new player Kirk Poole couldn’t prevent his team going down 5-3 to Elton Lib A despite a 40 break in his frame win (88-58). Elton’s Steve Anderson having a major impact taking his frame (93-17).

Huntley A dished out an 8-1 beating away to Bury Snooker D. Brian Walsh and Andy Catlow both producing fine wins. The local derby saw Elton Lib B overcome Elton Lib C with Sean Swimby taking his frame (91-29), including a 41 break as the B team won 7-2.

In the B section the top two faced each other as Huntley C hosted Central E. Steve Murray got Central off to a flyer (113-15), which proved too much for Huntley claw back the frames were shared but Central took the aggregate and match 6-3.

Central D moved into the second after a fine 7-2 win away at St Mary’s although the match was closer than the result suggests. Bury Snooker C entertained Seedfield A and in another close encounter and Tony Burns frame win (81-41) proved decisive as Bury Snooker ran out 6-2 winners. Elton Lib D got their first win of the season as they beat Central B big wins for Elton in the fourth and fifth frames by Dan Evans (91-24) and Phil Wolfenden (90-32) proved game changing as Elton ran out 7-2 winners.

In the C section a local derby saw Walshaw B take the honours against Walshaw A the result was emphatic the B team team ran out 7-1 winners but most of the frames turned on the the colours. The result is enough to see Walshaw B top the table. Top played bottom in the C section and it was a surpise result with Whitefield BC making it a close match 5-3, with George Channon producing a match winning performance (89-24). Buchanans B had a good win away 6-3 to Huntley B with Jamie French taking the opener (66-26). Walmersley Con climbed up the table as they white-washed Tottington Con B 8-0 with Dave Morley taking his 81-42. The final match saw the honours shared between Seedfield B and Heaton Park. Seedfield having Paul Eslick to thank in the final frame to secure them the aggregate. Despite Heaton Park taking four frames, the game finished 4-4.
