The top two teams in Division Four North met on Saturday producing a thrilling encounter that was settled in the final minute of the game.

The game started badly for Bury, as sloppy defensive play allowed Blackburn to take the lead inside the opening minute.

However, Bury hit back quickly, as Simon Major converted a seventh minute short corner to level the score.

Bury moved 2-1 in front just 45 seconds after the restart with James Oakes sweeping home.

The end to end nature of the game was confirmed just two minutes later as an unsighted Jonny Howard was beaten by a deflection from a Blackburn striker to once again level the scores. However, within another two minutes Bury had moved back in front as David Hodbod converted a short corner to put Bury back on top. Oakes grabbed a second to give Bury a two goal advantage but Blackburn responded with two converted short corners to level the scores with 20 minutes to play.

With just a minute remaining, a penalty flick was harshly awarded against the Bury skipper Tariq Sheikh. The converted flick maintains Blackburn’s 100 per cent record in the league.

Bury take on Bolton 2s in the final game before the Christmas on Saturday.
