NEW Bury signings James Burke and Frederic Veseli go straight into the starting line-up for today’s match at Hartlepool United.

Burke, aged 19, was released from Huddersfield Town this week after failing to break into the senior set-up.

The young centre-back enjoyed a brief but successful spell at Radcliffe Borough last season and is expected to slot into a back three alongside Richard Hinds and Nathan Cameron.

Veseli, a 21-year-old former Manchester United defender, has been snapped up from Ipswich on a month’s loan and is expected to do a job on the left of midfield.

Bury manager David Flitcroft has also handed an 18th start to goalkeeper Brian Jensen, aged 39, who has agreed to extend his contract at the JD Stadium until the end of the season.

The big Dane's committment to the club opened the way for fellow Shakers stopper Trevor Carson to extend his loan at Portsmouth until the end of the campaign.

Anton Forrester completed a busy New Year’s Eve for Flitcroft, after the 19-year-old Blackburn striker agreed to extend his loan at the JD Stadium until the end of the season.
