Bury Blue Devils u18s 47
Barrow Thorns 90
For the second game in a row the Blue Devils started well and took a 12-8 lead with Jack Hargreaves scoring seven transition points. However, in the seventh minute, the home side allowed their opponents an 11-0 run.
This was countered in the final minute of the quarter with Blue Devils scoring three points leaving Barrow with a 22-16 lead at the end of the quarter. Unfortunately,
Bury had a second quarter slump and started to turn the ball over, allowing their opponents steals and turnovers which Barrow easily converted into fast break scores.
The only positive out of this period was four points scored by Sam Nolan Massey as Barrow dominated the quarter, winning it 23-10. There was an improvement in the third quarter when Bury did play more aggressively at the defensive end of the court, creating some steals and turnovers.
Adam Pulford did begin to convert at the offensive end with six points but still Barrow ended up winning the period 18-12, including a 10-0 run from the third to fifth minute of the period.
The fourth quarter was again a poor period for the Blue Devils who allowed their opponents to turn them over and convert easy baskets with little resistance in terms of getting back and playing defence.
This showed in the score with Barrow winning 27-9 in the final quarter. Only Sulaiman Qadeer showed any resistance offensively for Bury, scoring four points.
Bury’s next fixture is away to Cheshire Wire on Saturday January 18. Tip off is yet to be confirmed.
Top Scorers: Jack Hargreaves 11, Sulaiman Qadeer 10, Adam Pulford 9.
