Two young boxers from Bury Amateur Boxing Club took part in Greater Manchester’s National Youth Finals on Saturday.
The event, held at Warden Park Sixth Form, saw 17-year-old Sahir Iqbal lose unanimously on points to Daniel Wright of Walshaw ABC in his Class B, 64kg bout.
The youngster, who has won seven national titles, has just returned to action after several weeks out with a back injury.
It was better news for 17-year-old Muhammad Ali who progressed into Sunday’s pre-quarter finals against East Midlands ABC with a split decision against Hussain Parvaiz from Northside ABC in his 52kg bout.
