The first team continued their good run of form in Division Four on Saturday as Luke Fidler and James Oakes once again bagged hat-tricks in a 10-goal demolition of Southport.
The home side dominated from the opening exchanges and should have had more than three goals before the half time break.
However, a James Oakes brace and an unfortunate own goal from the Southport keeper had given Bury a comfortable cushion.
Numerous other chances had been created, with some poor finishing and excellent saves preventing Bury from adding to their tally.
The second half saw Bury produce more excellent passing play, as they laid siege to the Southport goal, with sustained pressure throughout the half.
Fidler’s superb hat-trick moved him onto 24 goals for the season, with Oakes’s 38th goal of the campaign sealing his third successive hat-trick.
Two Simon Major strikes and an emphatic reverse stick effort from David Hodbod sealed the result, setting Bury up for a testing trip to Kendal next weekend.
