BURY dropped three places to 20th in the League Two table after Saturday’s match at Torquay United was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

But manager David Flitcroft says frustration caused by the Shakers’ third postponement in as many weeks was tempered by the fact games are now coming thick and fast.

The Shakers travel to Mansfield tonight in a fixture put back from January 28 following another postponement.

“There was a lot of frustration on that coach,” said Flitcroft, after returning from a fruitless trip to the Devon coast.

“We were all the same. I felt on a bit of a low myself because you get yourself up for a game and all this adrenalin builds up and then nothing.

“But the biggest feeling was that at least we have another game on Tuesday.

“They just want to get out there.”

Bury and Mansfield have enjoyed a similar run of form of late, with the Stags losing just once in eight matches and the Shakers once in seven.

But the Nottinghamshire outfit leapfrogged Bury with a 2-1 victory over high-flying Southend on Saturday and go into the game three points and three places better off.

Not that Flitcroft will allow that to cloud his preparations for the basement battle.

“We’re not looking at the league table - I’m just looking at ourselves and what we can affect,” said the Bury boss.

“We still have 54 points to play for and that excites me.

“We will get some momentum at some point. The rain isn’t going to last forever.

“A positive person looks at what he can achieve - that’s what we are about. “We have a positive chairman, a positive board and, at the minute, we have positive fans, and the plan is to keep that moving forward.

“That’s the mindset I want to see in my players, and I can see they are making progress.”

And Flitcroft is confident his side’s patient style of play will be more than a match for Mansfield’s aggressive approach.

“They are a very direct team but we have come up against quite a few of those this season and done well,” he added.

On-loan winger Danny Mayor returns for Bury after completing a three-match ban, while striker Daniel Nardiello should be fit to start following his recovery from a hamstring injury.
