Bury Ladies maintained the pressure on leaders City of Manchester, with a dominant display on Saturday as they brushed aside bottom side Urmston at Parrenthorn.
Skipper Natalie Scully led by example as she bagged a brace with two close range finishes in the second half.
In a match where Urmston barely managed a serious attack, top scorer Beth Topping scored twice for Bury and Lisa Davies’ neat finish, following good play from Becky Loonan, gave the ladies a 3-0 firsthalf lead, Scully’s two second half strikes and a hat-trick goal from Topping – her 21st of the season – sealed the result, as Bury dominated from start to finish.
The ladies are now nine points clear of third-placed Heaton, in the second promotion spot.
