Bury Jaguars have been crowned Lancashire Under-15 girls champions after winning the Greater Manchester Junior Hockey League following a great set of final results.

The first game against Urmston saw Bury Jaguars’ Rebecca Loonan score the first goal of the day, which was closely followed by goals from Georgina Gardner and Rachel Bailey. A further three goals from Loonan and two from Bailey saw the team off to a great start with an 8-0 win. The Jaguars enjoyed the majority of the possession in the second game against Stockport.

Goals from Jessica Murphy, Bailey and two from Loonan gave the Jaguars a 4-0 lead at half time. In the second half a great save by goalkeeper, Megan Klymoowec, kept Stockport from scoring. Despite having numerous chances, Bury could not add to their lead.

In the third game against Urmston, another early goal from Loonan gave Bury Jaguars an early lead. Loonan’s first- half hat-trick increased the lead to 3-0.

In the second period, Bailey added to her goal tally with Murphy also scoring to ensure the Jaguars continued their winning streak with a 5-0 win. In the last game of the afternoon, Bury Jaguars came out with determination to keep a clean sheet and make it four wins out of four.

Great defending by Faye Strong and Hannah Wallwork kept Stockport at bay in the first half.

In the second period it was Murphy’s last minute goal that secured a 1-0 win. The overall results from the matches meant Bury Jaguars made it 14 wins out of 17 to claim the u15s Girls Greater Manchester League championship.
