Our Lady of Grace 7

Lowercroft 4

Our Lady of Grace Primary School took part in the Bury Junior Schools Sports Association (BJSSA) Annual Netball Rally at Bury High School last Saturday.

Youngsters from Year 6 at the Prestwich school competed in the event for the first time, as 17 schools from the Bury area took part.

The schools were split into four leagues and the winners of each played in a knock-out stage. Our Lady of Grace reached the final by winnng all of their league games – including victory over Bury Grammar School’s ‘A’ team.

The girls, showing great enthusiasm and skill, faced Lowercroft in the final and played well in a tense and very close game, which was initially played in atrocious weather conditions.

The weather eased in the second half as Our Lady of Grace ran out winners with braces apiece for Caitlin Sharkey, Emily Kelly and Niamh Raftery. Grace Lee also netted as the aged 10 and 11-year-old pupils claimed the trophy.

Lady of Grace RC Primary School remain unbeaten so far this season and are joint winners of the BJSSA Netball League.
