With the new season about to begin, Greenmount Cricket Club’s junior section is looking forward to building on a successful winter which has seen 12 of its players selected for Bury district teams.

This represents the largest number of Greenmount players in district teams for a number of years, reflecting the club’s investment in the junior cricket section over the last four years.

Fundamental to this success has been the recruitment of Nigel Brown, one of the most respected coaches in Lancashire, whilst the club has also funded a number of club coaches through their Level two coaching badges.

In addition, the club has increased the number of junior teams it runs, with five teams playing in the Bolton Junior League at under-9s, u11s, u13s, and u15s and u18s level.

There will also be two teams – u11s and u13s – playing in the Lancashire Junior League.

Three youngsters have been picked for the u11s development team. They are Ben Holland, Harry Graham-Scott and Joe Hornsby.

Representing the u11s district team are Bailey Dalziel, Evan Williams, Matthew Senior and Sam Bird.

Cameron Prow, James Southworth-Staples and Rory Daverage have been selected for the u13s, while Patrick Kilvington and Tom Heaton will play for the u15s.

The club’s Sophie Heaton, Tom Heaton and Evan Williams have all continued to train with Lancashire over the winter having represented Lancashire at various age group levels over last few years.

Junior practice sessions take place at the club on a Friday.

Training for the u9s and u11s runs from 6pm-7pm and u13s, u15s and u18s from 7pm-8pm.
