WALSHAW cricketer Kate Cross was the standout bowler for an MCC ladies side on Monday in their 41-run defeat to a Rest of the World XI at Lord’s.

The 22-year-old Lancashire star, who was handed an England contract earlier this month, took 4-48 including the wicket of West Indies powerhouse

Stafanie Taylor with the first ball of the day. Cross, pictured, also claimed the scalps of New Zealander Suzie Bates, Australia’s Ellyse Perry and South African Marizanne Kapp as the tourists totalled 283-9 from 50 overs.

In reply, the MCC fell short on 242 all out with Cross the only unbeaten batter on eight not out.
