Bury 108
Astley & Tyldesley 70

Bury entertained local rivals Astley & Tyldesley in the Northern Cycle Speedway league at Goshen Sports Centre on Sunday.

The Comets had suffered a heavy early-season defeat to the side from Wigan, but made no mistakes in this one, taking charge of the match from the outset.

Two 6-4 victories and a 7-3 heat win in the first three races put Bury eight points in the lead. Further dominance saw the home side lead by 18 points at half time, with Will Owens and Kris Ramsden taking maximum points from their races with some excellent team riding.

The second half opened as the first had concluded, with further heat wins for the Comets, including a fantastic ‘gate’ from Danny Taylor in heat 11, setting up another maximum win.

A final score 38 points better than the visitors was just reward for a superb performance with Ramsden, Owens and Howarth all putting in their best performances of the season to date. Will Thacker also fought hard for points on his first-team debut.

Bury scorers: Kris Ramsden 19, Danny Taylor 18(1), Will Owens 15(4), Ben Scranage 15(1), James Elston 14(2), Neil Howarth 13(3), Dawid Renc 12(1), Will Thacker 2.

On Sunday, Bury take on Heckmondwike in Divisions One and Three of the league as they look to extend their recent unbeaten run in Yorkshire.
