Unsworth secured their second Twenty20 win of the season when they disposed of fellow Central Lancashire side Radcliffe at the Den on Friday evening.

Radcliffe batted first and got off to a poor start losing early wickets with openers captain Sean Gibson and Martyn Coates only managing to score two runs apiece.

Gibson was run out while Jack O’Brien dismissed Coates after he was caught by John Wiggans.

Hafeez Afridi top scored for the visitors with 27 and was supported by club professional Nadeem Ashraf with 12 as Radcliffe scored slowly in the first six overs. The evening, sponsored by Paul Brown of Bury Financial Advisers, saw some good fielding and disciplined bowling from the Dragons as more Radcliffe wickets fell.

Joab Johnston was the only other Radcliffe batsman getting into double figures as they limped to 66 all out in 18 overs. O’Brien, Jacob Ramsay and Alex Blake took two wickets each for the Dragons and Wiggans took three catches giving Unsworth a low total to chase. In reply, the hosts also lost early wickets with Mohammed Jengahir bowled out by Radcliffe’s Jimmy Dixon for just four runs.

Gibson was the star bowler for Radcliffe taking 4-13 in his four overs.

However, overseas amateur Jeff Keyt took the game away from Radcliffe with some clean striking in his 41 not out.

Wiggans added 13 as Unsworth won comfortably by five wickets.
