Bury Broncos A team suffered consecutive defeats for the second time this season as they were beaten by a committed Burnley and Pendle side.

First half tries from Matty Hindley, captain Paul Kynaston, and a solitary score after the break from Andy Willis were not enough to stop the Broncos falling to their second home loss.

Burnley were on the scoresheet after just five minutes. The visitors forwards outpowered their opposition when Sam Hamer barged over for an early 6-0 lead. The game was stopped following a serious injury to Bury’s Stu Young, but Burnley extended their lead through Sam Mounsey soon after the restart.

Kynaston got his side on the board after 22 minutes when he barged his way over.

Bury were finally starting to get into the game and some slick hands from Mike Garside and Willis put Hindley over in the corner to make it 10-8 to the visitors.

Unfortunately for the Broncos, the visitors crossed on the stroke of half-time. A wayward pass was grounded by Waddington to make it 14-8 at the break. Some poor Bury defending allowed Burnley scrum-half Matt Crowley to score a solo try to extend their lead to 20-8 before Willis took a quick tap penalty to scythe through the defence for a well-taken try to reduce the visitors lead to six points.

The Broncos looked well placed to get at least a draw but a dropped pass with the line at their mercy gave the visitors the opportunity they needed to close out the game as they gathered the loose ball with Sam Walker going over in the corner.

Bury’s A’s play Liverpool Lions this Saturday, while the first team are also back in action against local rivals Little Hulton Reds.
