Bury Seniors secured back-to-back away wins with victory against Chorley in the Lancashire County Red Rose on Tuesday.

Steve Bracegirdle and Colin Duckworth got the visitors off to the perfect start with a 5&4 victory before two resounding 6&5 wins from John Latham and Mike Howarth and Dave Johnson and Gerry Barnes gave Bury a 3-0 advantage.

Chorley hit back with two impressive 5&4 responses before Peter A Dawson and Alan Green clinched the match for the Unsworth Hall side with a 4&3 win Chorley’s final pairing pulled one back to make the final match score 8-6 in Bury’s favour.

With three competitions in three days it was a much changed Bury side that entertained Bolton Lostock in their annual challenge at Unsworth Hall on Thursday.

Bury struggled from the outset with their only victory being John Latham and Mike Howarth’s 3&2 win over Ged Gaffey and Chris Pickup. Jimmy Pilkington and club president Vincent Gale drew with Chris Pilling and Steve Wood and the home side’s only other point was secured by Derek Kenyon and Ged Eckersley against Ron Johnson and Colin Porter.

This week Bury entertain high flying Darwen in what is sure to be a hard fought encounter, despite Bury being the only club to secure the double against the East Lancs side last season.
