STAND moved above local rivals Prestwich to fifth in the Lancashire County League table after back-to-back victories last weekend.

Stuart Catterall scored 69 in their total of 138-8 at home to Thornham, and Jack Walmsley returned figures of 6-44 as the visitors finished on 137-9 on Saturday.

The following day, Stand travelled to face bottom club Stretford and breezed to a 186-run triumph at Lesley Road.

Batting first, wicketkeeper Rick Rothwell hit the biggest score with 65 before he was run out by Stretford youngster Alex Grant.

There were other notable contributions by Alex Bell (45) and Brett Ernst (34) before both were caught by home wicketkeeper Thomas Wright. Stuart Catterall hit 36 and Matt Curphey was unbeaten on 30 as Stand posted 248-8.

Stretford’s reply started slowly and only two batsmen reached double figures as they were skittled out for a miserly 62.

Carl Sutcliffe took 4-35 from 13 overs while Curphey added to his batting form to take 2-17 from seven overs, which included four maidens.

Walmsley took 1-7 while Mo Adnan bowled four balls and ended with figures of 1-1.

Stand host lowly Roe Green at the SCG on Saturday looking to extend their unbeaten run.

Excluding two washouts, they have won their last five league games.
