Bury motorcyclist Nige Pitt took on the challenging Rockingham Motor Speedway in round six of the Thundersport GB Championship at the weekend.
Having broken into the top 20 of this very competitive class, Team Pittys’ aim was to continue this form.
Pitt put in a lap time that would have seen him qualify inside the top 20 last year, but with a higher standard of rider on show this year Nige was placed at 24th on the grid for the two Saturday races. A good start was needed and he delivered in both, getting away with the faster riders and finishing 18th in the first race and in 20th place in the second race.
A crash in Sunday morning’s warm-up race meant Pitt’s plans were disrupted but on a newly repaired bike he looked determined in 25th place on the grid. Another great start put Pitt exactly where he wanted to be and he fought hard to finish in 19th place.
The last race of the day saw Pitt claim a 21st place finish.
With a hat-trick of top 20 finishes it was mission accomplished for the Pitty Team who now look forward to the next round at Anglesey at the end of August.
