Round four of the Northern league four-a-side competition took place at Astley and Tyldesley’s track on Sunday.
Bury were represented by their two 4s teams, the current joint leaders, the Comets and The Meteors.
With both teams effected by members being unavailable, two depleted Bury teams were fielded for the first heat of the 30 heat event.
Despite tracking an eight-year-old and an 11-year-old in the senior competition, the Comets were still well in contention at heat 18, just one point behind Astley and four points behind the joint leaders and current champions, Stockport.
Chris Parrish top-scored for the Bury side with 17 points with Ben Scranage and James Elston also picking up 16 and 15 points respectively. Kris Ramsden was the star of the Meteors team, claiming 17 points.
However, the Comets fell seven points behind the champions in the next six heats and their challenge was undone of the Comets challenge, as they had a last place and an exclusion after a fall whilst leading the race, and were unable to match the other two clubs results in those series of races.
Final scores: Stockport 67, Astley 60, Bury Comets 53, Heckmondwike, 46, Bury Meteors, 37 and Hull 36.
Bury Comets scorers: Chris Parrish 17, James Elston 16, Ben Scranage 16, Daniel Miller 3, and Sean Etheridge 2.
Bury Meteors scorers: Kris Ramsden, 17, Joe Holleran 6 Louis Turner 5, Chas Whalley 5, Steve Mann 4.
