After despatching leaders Morecambe last week, a strong Preston side repeated the fate by overturning an understrength Bury team on Thursday.
Missing James Oakes, Simon Major, Piers Smith-Hughes and Chris McManus, Bury were always going to be up against it, and so it proved as Preston kept possession well and scored two goals in each half.
However, Bury remain one point clear at the top of the Summer League with three games remaining after Morecambe slipped to another defeat.
