Bury aim to thrash out permanent deal for Barnsley striker Danny Rose

BARNSLEY striker Danny Rose could seal a permanent move to Bury tomorrow, according to manager David Flitcroft.

The Shakers boss said negotiations would continue on a possible three-year contract for the 20-year-old front man after agreeing a three-month loan deal late on Friday.

Flitcroft spent 12 hours in talks to reach that stop-gap compromise and his perseverance paid off at Hartlepool on Saturday after Rose came off the bench to seal Bury’s first points of the season.

The Barnsley-born front man showed great composure to round Pools keeper Scott Flinders to slot home Bury's second of a 2-0 win in the 73rd minute - just six minutes after coming on for his second debut for the club.

“We will see if we can get the deal done and concluded on Monday,” said Flitcroft after the final whistle.

“I think the important thing was that Rose was with us today, not because of the goal but because I wanted his energy and the competition for places.”

Flitcroft gave the young striker his league debut during his time as manager at Barnsley and brought him to the JD Stadium on a short term loan deal at the tail end of last season.

Rose was a big hit, scoring three goals in six appearances, and the Shakers manager has been working hard to bring him back to the club ever since.

It was feared the Barnsley-born forward would refuse to leave his hometown club, but after the Tykes landed Leroy Lita last week he fell down the pecking order, opening the door for an approach.

And it looks like Barnsley’s loss could be Bury’s gain.

“We are building a team for now, but we are also building a team for the future and Danny Rose now is part of that future,” added a delighted Flitcroft.

“It was great, on Friday, emotionally to get him into the building and give him the number nine shirt.”
