BURY had victory prized from their grasp on a disappointing day for the local sides in section A of the Bolton Association.

Daisy Hill recovered from an almost impossible position at 65-5 in pursuit of 194 to beat Bury by three wickets, while Elton lost by seven wickets at Flixton and Walshaw suffered a five-wicket defeat at Atherton.

Simon Belston’s Bury side looked in complete control after the captain rattled off a stunning century before eventually falling for 107 as the Radcliffe Road men finished on 193-7.

Their total could have possibly been better following some tidy bowling by the hosts’ Stephen Hodgkinson, who took 4-31.

But it looked like Bury had done more than enough as Daisy wickets tumbled at the beginning of their innings.

It was not until Amjad Khan and Steve Evans came together that the home side began to play their way back into the contest, with the pair combining with a seventh wicket partnership of 123 to turn the game around.

When Khan left the fray for 47, Evans carried on the charge with 67 not out to help them over the finish line.

Alton Beckford’s all-round display put paid to Elton’s chances against Flixton. He took 5-43, while Flixton captain Aiden Fetherston weighed in with 4-16 for the Association leaders as Elton were bowled out for 160, with Chris Read’s 55 the highlight of their innings.

Beckford then smashed 72 and Steve Hammond made 29no as Flixton comfortably chased down Elton’s total.

Walshaw were bowled out for 133 at second-placed Atherton as their opponents continued their title challenge.

Jamar Griffith stole the show for the home side taking 5-41 before hitting a half-century and, along with a knock of 63 by Rashon Primus, helped Atherton to victory.

The three defeats left the local sides propping up section A, with Bury best place in fourth.
