BURY sisters Alexis and Olivia Peet failed to make it past the second round at the Nike Junior National Tennis Championships.

Eighth seed Olivia was beaten 6-3, 6-0 by Maria Budin in the last 16 of the under-14s competition. She had earlier won through the first round after her opponent in the opening round retired due to injury.

She was unlucky not to make it through to the second round of the u16s after winning the first set of her opening round match against Ellie Tsimbilakis.

Olivia then took her opponent to a tie-break in the second before losing that and eventually went on to fall to a three-sets defeat, 6-4, 6-7, 2-6.

Her younger sister, Alexis, was knocked out in the opening round of the u12s after coming up against tough opposition in local girl Tiegan Aitken, losing 6-2, 6-0.

The tournament, which features the best 32 players in the country in each age group, is being played at two venues, with the u12s held at West Hants Club in Bournemouth and the u14s, u16s and u18s at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.
